Turn Nutrition Evidence Into Ethical Policy Action
Name the policy instrument before choosing an action
Public policy is a course of government action or inaction addressing a public problem. Legislation is a proposal or law considered and enacted through a legislative body. Regulation is a rule issued by an authorized agency through an applicable administrative process to implement, interpret, or administer law. Executive action, agency guidance, court decisions, budgets, contracts, accreditation requirements, and local ordinances can also shape nutrition practice. Organizational policy governs work within an institution and cannot override higher legal authority. First identify jurisdiction, issuing body, legal status, effective date, population, funding, enforcement, and the exact decision still open. A press release or advocacy summary is not the controlling text.
